Supporting the New Forest Marathon

Over the weekend, Williams Shipping supported the New Forest Marathon by providing a curtainsider trailer to be used as an event stage. In addition, we mustered a team of 10 runners to take part in the 10k and half marathon events.

Inspiring people to take part in physical activity

The New Forest Marathon has been a cornerstone of Hampshire’s running calendar for over 30 years and has raised over £1.25m for charities and local good causes. The New Forest is one of the most beautiful places in the UK, and the route offers a blend of forest enclosures, open roads and far reaching views.

Helping inspire people to get active is a cause that is also important to Williams Shipping. This is the third local running event we have sponsored in 2019, along with the ABP Southampton Marathon and Romsey Relay. In addition, we also supported the Winchester-Giessen Run, a 540-mile relay which raised money for Winchester Hospice.

Entertainment at the Race Village

Curtainsider trailers make great event stages as they are easy to position and set up. At the New Forest Marathon, our curtainsider provided the platform for live warmups.

Colin Williams was interviewed on stage and subsequently went on to open the marathon!

Williams Shipping’s team comprised 10 runners who competed across the half and 10k events. Congratulations to everyone who took part, and special recognition to Tony Willis, who finished second in his category, and Dave Nightingale who is in training for his first full marathon next year.
