The aim of building the breakwater at Cowes was to create a more sheltered harbour and to assist with the regeneration of East Cowes and the building of a new marina.

Cowes’ position in the Solent makes it a complex tidal area. The job was therefore very difficult. We provided the Willjive, one of our multipurpose vessels, which assisted in the pipeline connections and the anchor handling during part of the project.

The effect of the breakwater has caused some of the cross flows of the harbour to increase and the tidal flow has effectively moved south.
