But using synthetic instead of mineral oil can lead to increases in vessel productivity, as well as better fuel economy, far outweighing the initial oil cost. BLADE RUNNER TWO – Providing specialist transport to the renewables sector
Offshore wind turbine blades present a unique transport challenge. At 80 metres long, the blades manufactured by Vestas on the Isle of Wight cannot be transported by normal vessels, so Williams Shipping operates a purpose-built blade transport barge for the business.

Williams Shipping is delighted to welcome another Eurocarrier 2209 to the fleet. Our crew joined the vessel at Neptune Marine’s yard in Aalst, The Netherlands and sailed to Southampton in February.
