Thousands of visitors, 450 exhibitors – Seawork 2024 hailed a success!
Williams Shipping are riding high after exhibiting at Seawork, Europe’s largest on-water commercial marine and workboat event, at Southampton’s iconic Mayflower Park. This event also coincided with Williams Shipping’s 130th Anniversary which was celebrated on the stand with 80 guests who toasted this milestone with some fizz and cake.
This year’s event, which brought together thousands of businesses and customers from the marine industry, combined open-air displays and over 70 vessels, floating plant and equipment on the quayside and pontoons, as well as purpose-built undercover exhibition space.
To celebrate Seawork’s 25th Anniversary, Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal officially opened the event on the Day 1. Her Royal Highness took the time to visit the Williams Shipping stand to meet and speak with Philip Williams (Managing Director – Marine) about all things marine.
This was followed by visits from the High Sheriff of Hampshire (Deputy Lieutenant of Hampshire), Jon Whitaker, and The Lord Mayor of Southampton, David Shields, who spoke to the team about ongoing projects, including the Williams Shipping apprenticeship programme.
This year, 200 school leavers joined the Careers Day. Williams Shipping apprentices, Faith, and Ella participated in the event and spoke at the ‘Commercial Marine Has Talent’ session.
Philip Williams commented:
“We are proud that Faith and Ella presented to a packed room, discussing in detail their apprenticeships, future aspirations and what it means to be an apprentice at Williams Shipping. They are inspiring young people to join the marine sector and promoting more diversity and inclusivity within the industry.”
Philip continued:
“Our exhibition partner, Castrol, also showcased their cutting edge live Smart Monitor which helps vessels check oil health in real-time and can then feedback live detailed analysis direct to the customer. Overall, it was a fantastic event, and we look forward to exhibiting next year!”
